Avalanche warning for region Lofoten og Vesterålen Wednesday 13.01.2021

Danger level 1 - Low avalanche danger

Published:
Generally stable conditions, but be careful in areas with windslabs in the alpine. A weak layer of facets can be present in isolated features. Keep in mind that even small avalanches can have consequences if you fall into rocky terrain.

Avalanche problems

Persistent weak layer (slab avalanches)

You can trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Tuesday 12. January 2021

Mountain weather

Tuesday 12. January 2021

Little to no precipitation. Fresh breeze from east. -16 °C to -5 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Wednesday 13. January 2021

No precipitation. Breeze from east. -16 °C to -5 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
